1. Koh Hu Chang (Outer Islands, Pattaya).
Location: This rocky islet lies about 11 miles west of
Pattaya Beach, between Koh Phai to the north and Koh Klung Badan to the south.
Diving: Depth: 5-18m. Visibility:
8-22m.
Condition: Moderate to strong currents since
the site is exposed to both monsoon seasons Hu Chang means
"elephant ears", and is descriptive of the two rocky outcrops
that project above the sites Hard corals predominate, sharing
rocky ledges failing away to 12 meters with some barrel sponges.
2. Koh Klung Badan.
Location: Koh Klung Badan lies half a mile
south of Koh Chang and 5 5 miles west of Koh Lam.
Diving: Depth: 6-12m.
Visibility: 7-18m. |
Conditions: Currents are generally weak
to moderate, particularly during northerly winds. On 4 meters
after decent there are numerous mounds and heads of coral,
notably stag horn as well as coral laminates To the northwest the
reef becomes a relatively shallow fringing reef whose flat and
slope consist mainly of rocks and sponges Compresses barrel
sponges shelter small crustaceans and invertebrates.

3. Koh Marn Wichai.
Location: This island in the outer chain of
island off Pattaya lies 1.5 miles to the south of Koh Klung Badan
and about 6 miles southwest of Koh Lam. The dive site is
located on the southeast side of the southern point.
Diving: Depth: 12-15m.
Visibility: 8-25m.
Conditions: Currents are generally weak to moderate,
well protected from the SW monsoon and not heavily affected by
NE winds. Most of the corals are not in the form of fringing reef
but in large patches. The plateau are covered in a garden of sea
anemones plus the abundant three spots dascyluss
and pink anemone fish.
4. Koh Rin (Hin Khao).
Location: A small rocky outcrop 8km south of Koh Marn Wichai.
Diving: Depth: 6-21m.
Visibility: 8-25m.
Conditions: The island is small therefore will be subject to
strong currents on both sides, meaning exposed to both monsoon
seasons. These conditions restrict the site only for experienced
divers only. Hard corals together with barrel and other sponges,
gorgonian sea fans, and wire corals set the scene from 5-12 meter
beneath the surface. Scatterings of Christmas tree worm and stinging
feather hydroids decorate porites coral heads Sea anemones harbor
resident pink anemone fish. From 12 18 meters there're colorful
soft corals, bushy antipatharian corals, and barrel sponges.

5. Hin Ton May.
Location: Around the eastern perimeter of
low-lying rocky outcrops at the extreme south of the outer
islands chain, about 1 mile south of Koh Rin.
diving: Depth: 6-14m.
Visibility: 5-25m.
Conditions: During northerly winds this site
is suitable for all level, however, on SW monsoon the current
will be fairly strong. The coral formations are in two major
categories fringing reef and patch. The section of reef around
the entry point is fairly barren. Soft corals are plentiful
in the shallower waters, elk horns and foliaceous corals
lay clam to the midwaters, and sea whips, gorgonians
sea fans and many bushes of stinging hydroids on deac
coral heads are prominent at the base of the reef.
There are lots of barrel and encrusting sponges
everywhere, the latter having claimed small areas
from the corals. Marine life is plentiful and varied.
6. Koh Luam Noi.
Location: Around the southern headland of Koh Luam.
Diving: Depth:10-18m.
Visibility: 8- 20m.
Conditions: Southerly winds increase the visibility
and the currents around this sheltered end of this island will be weaker.
The lower reef-slope is highlighted by many soft corals; these are
neither as radiant nor as large as they. could be, having been
restricted by excessive situation in the water, although much
of the silt is redistributed by the currents sent during northerly
winds and spring tides. The reef is fairly typical of the area.
It is frequently punctuated by sponge-encrusted rocks and large
mounds of lesser and greater star corals, occasionally split by
clusters of smaller, less hardly orals. The hard corals tend
to dominate the shallower waters, coral laminates form terraces
that descend to keeper-water areas where long, spiraling sea
whips are embedded among larger.
